The Average American Will Not Care for an Activist By Kody Miller

House Member Kody Miller Lays It on the Line!

The average American will not care for an activist attitude. The fact of the matter is, we see so many independents in America. That is not a bad thing, however, most identify as independent not because of where they stand, but because of the issues they've identified. For example, Jim has taken issue with his job in Coal Mining disappearing but has no awareness as to why it is disappearing. Political factions take advantage of the unknowing person and tell them a reason that something happened that conforms to their beliefs to ensure they have his vote.
We need to do something to ensure that Americans (and people of any nation for that matter) know the issue, and explain it instead of giving a "side" to it. We need to ensure awareness is there before telling somebody about it so that they understand that issue. That also would help remove political disagreements. For example, Tyler hates that there is a tax on his cigarettes, and thinks it a stupid idea to impose such a thing. While his doctor has told him quitting is a good idea, Tyler doesn't because he has access to it. Now, Jacob decides to push for taxes on cigarettes not only so it disallows people to purchase it and diminish their health, but also to put money into programs like education to ensure people don't begin habits like that. Jacob has never been addicted to anything and doesn't know how it feels to attempt to quit, whereas Tyler doesn't understand why Jacob cares so much about getting more money for education and doesn't even know that the tax's goal is to get him to stop smoking.
In the end, neither side ended up understanding the other, but there is one, central idea to the story, and that is that one point of contention leads to a web of them. If the person is aware of that web, they can communicate to people who are not aware of that web, and do not understand what's the first contention and convince them that something is wrong because of ___________. The reasoning for independent positions here in America is typically due to lack of understanding/lack of experience/exposure to an issue. If we could dedicate to opening people's eyes to issues (even if it doesn't pertain to them) in a non-partisan light, we could have a society in which there is a clear understanding, issue by issue. If we allow perpetual misuse/manipulation of information, we allow people to think for others, and elected officials will not be representative of that person, but of the people who think for them. Why do you think our government has a disgustingly low approval rating?

I know the problems of the working class. I understand that not everybody can afford their hospital bills, their heating bills, their water bills, electrical bills, and just bills in general. It is too much stress on the middle class. It is the time that we not only give back to the many working class families of Minnesota, but reward them for building everything from the ground up, and creating what we call the foundation of civilization as we know it.
