Republicans Have Nothing To Offer Except Hate and Fear.
Recently while spanning my newsfeed, something jumped out at me about the Republican Party. Republicans have nothing to offer except hate and fear. As a matter of fact, it's been this way since the 1980s.
The only two ideas I have ever seen come from the GOP are tax cuts and deregulation. It's true. We are officially in an election season now and in this writers view the Republicans have nothing to offer the American people. It's been 40 years, and all they have ever done is cut taxes for the rich and allow Corporations to run roughshod over our environment with deregulation. None of the above has ever helped the average working class person here in the United States.
That's an issue. Reagan came along and slew the Labor Unions, and to this day they have not recovered. In doing so, America's once vibrant middle class was destroyed. That's not the only thing Reagan did. Aside from having no ideas other than cutting taxes and deregulation Republicans stay in power through two mechanisms hate and fear. When I think back to Reagan, I remember him telling us we need to be angry. That we needed to hate black people because of their taking all of our tax dollars by being on welfare. He invented the " Welfare Queen."
Republicans and their media echo chamber Fox's News have painted a picture of well to do black folks just sitting around collecting unemployment checks and food stamps. It was a lie, a myth, but it worked. Just like Trump today Reagan worked his base into a frenzy until they were foaming at the mouth. The Republican base was in fear of their livelihoods. By doing so, he[Reagan] got people to vote Republican even though they had nothing to offer.
George W Bush
George W Bush though, he spoke a great game about Muslims, did not demonize them in his speeches and in his talks. What did he do? He got the Republican base to hate Muslims through his war on terror. Now, I hear Republicans make the argument that he did not say " go hate Muslims." That he was very clear to separate the people who did nine 11 and the bad guys over in Afghanistan and Iraq from the everyday Muslim.
I remember well this to be true; however, his efforts failed. The Republicans and their deep-pocketed donors wanted those oilfields and fear, and hate was the order of the day. Bush knew it! We have the Christian Right leaders telling us Islam is a religion of hate. Fox News has been spinning this lie for decades. What they're doing with representative Omar is sickening, and they're doing it because she is a Muslim. So, in spite of offering nothing but endless war and tax cuts he wins reelection.
Now, What is Donald Trump Doing Today?
He's cutting taxes. He is deregulating, and he's getting his base to hate a new group of people. The others. Immigrants! They're the bad guys. First, it was the black people then it was the Muslims. Now, it's the Hispanics. You can bet your bottom dollar come general election time it will be Socialist and Progressives.
Who's the next target. Who's the next group that we need to hate and fear so much that we're willing to vote for a political party that has had no new ideas since who knows when. Since 1980 we have been told by different Republican leaders which group we need to hate and why we need to vote for Republicans to keep us safe from these groups.
Just about any person you talk to today feels that our government is corrupt. That’s right, the most powerful nation on earth is eat up with corruption. More and more Americans feel our democracy is completely broken.
If you have half a brain, it's obvious why? Lobbyist write our laws. Politicians are bought and paid for corruption touches every single issue in our governance.
What is sad is that huge segments of people in America have disenfranchised themselves from the political process thinking there's nothing we can do about it. [corruption]
This thinking is one of the biggest cancers we have in our American democracy today! When you put this corruption under the microscope it's not that politicians are breaking the laws, in fact, there are no laws in place for them to break. There are some exceptions but not many or enough.
Right Now, Corruption Is Legal in America
This factoid is something we can fix. For example, right now it's perfectly legal for "special interest groups" to hand over humongous checks to members of Congress who regulate and write laws. There is nothing to stop these members of Congress from passing laws that favor these groups even if said laws are a detriment to our society.
Often, we see these same politicians accepting comfy jobs with these lobbying firms. This example is just one in a million we could use.
The American Anti-Corruption Act (commonly referred to as the "AACA" or "Anti-Corruption Act") is a piece of model legislation designed to limit the influence of money in American politics by overhauling lobbying, transparency, and campaign finance laws. ... Stopping political bribery by overhauling lobbying and ethics laws. [Wikipedia]
The "AACA" introduces a stringent set of ethical standards. For example, if you're a senator on the Banking Committee you can't take money or gifts from banking lobbyist.
Also, the "AACA" mandates full transparency so " We the People" know exactly who is paying what to whom. The "AACA" changes how elections are funded. The "AACA" achieves these things without taking away anyone's right to free speech. The bi-partisan constitutional scholars who authored this act wrote it in a way to withstand any legal scrutiny.
While a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United would help corral those shadowy groups like "Americans for Freedom and Jobs and More Freedom." It would not fix any of the previously-mentioned problems. We could overturn Citizens United tomorrow and bribery, extortion, conflicts of interest, all of it would still be legal.
However, this corruption does pose an opportunity for those of us who desire to see it end. We can solve these problems with one comprehensive law. Which begs the question, but how?
How do we get such a law passed? Asking Congress to do so would be like asking a " Fox to put a lock on the Henhouse." However, not all is a loss here. We can go around Congress by using the " Ballot Initiative Process." This process allows citizens to pass laws ourselves. No politicians required. All we must do is gather enough signatures that would put the "AACA" up for a public vote and we can start fixing this out of control corrupt system we know as American Democracy.
Here's the Plan
We need a law and our research here in the House of Public Discourse finds the "American Anti-Corruption Act" a great comprehensive and common sense law to put up for a vote. We need to bring all Progressives, Independents, and Conservatives together and get organized for this endeavor which in fact is one of the few political issues in modern politics that has bi-partisan appeal among the electorate. This is the only way to combat both the Global and National Oligarchs that control our two-party system in the present. For example, in 2014 both the " Tea-Party," and "Progressives" teamed up to pass the first anti-corruption act. In November 2014, a bipartisan coalition of Represent.Us members in Tallahassee, Florida, put America’s first municipal Anti-Corruption Act on the ballot – and they won. Since then, voters have passed initiatives for sweeping anti-corruption reforms in more than a dozen cities and states across America. In 2016, for the first time ever, comprehensive statewide anti-corruption legislation passed in South Dakota. [See Source]
Using the Ballot Initiative process Represent.us proclaims there are some 22,000 cities across the country that we could pass locally tailored anti-corruption legislation. We have always felt here in the House of Public Discourse that solid positive change within our political system always starts from the local level.
By starting from the local levels our efforts affect the communities we live in by protecting our schools, healthcare, resources, environment, and jobs from being sold out to special interest. Local politics matter! Also, starting at the local level builds momentum for passing legislation at the state level.
State Acts not only would clean up statewide corruption it would change how elections are funded. In doing so, "We the People" get clean politicians, not one's like in the present who are in the hip pocket of special interest groups. State Acts would affect federal candidates as well. Once these state laws are passed we can truly "drain the swamp," by sending a new wave of clean politicians to Washington.
By taking this fight against corruption to the local and state levels we can win this struggle against political corruption from the outside. And, once we have elected these fair-minded ethical politicians on the federal level we can then pass the "AACA" at the federal level.
Some may say this is a loss cause that it's pie in the sky thinking and isn't practical. Our response here in the House of Public Discourse to these claims is quite simple.
Was it pie in the sky for a band of thirteen colonies with no standing army to win a war against the strongest military power of its time?
Was it thought practical that slavery would be abolished?
Or, that woman and blacks would be allowed to vote.
Was it unpragmatic to think that Same Sex Marriage would be a reality in American society?
How many people said there would never be a person of color in the White House?

Today's Weapon of Choice
America is still feeling the effects of a racially motivated mass shooting in a prominent historic black church in Charleston, South Carolina. In this shooting, nine people lost their lives. Anyone who has followed our advocacy here in the House of Public Discourse knows we advocate that ” History Does Repeat Itself In Politics.” With the coinciding action by the South Carolina state legislature to remove the Confederate Flag from the public square, we see the Rebels coming out of the woodwork. ” The South Will Rise Again, Crowd.”
We have normalized sudden death and life-long crippling as typical outcomes of street-corner discourtesies.
We have refined mourning-and-healing protocols and expected to improve them further.
We have subordinated the supposedly unrealistic “never again” to the reliably anodyne “coming together” and “moving on.”
We have learned, from Florida’s Zimmerman-and-Martin case, that an armed man was challenging an unarmed boy, who challenged back, could legally shoot to kill if losing the fight he had started.[See Source]
Slavery In America Had Much To Do With Passing Of The Second Amendment.
When you factor in America has become a ” Gun-Worshiping” country with pro- gun advocates screaming about their guns rights, being taken away from them. It brings this country full circle back to the same old issue of State Rights versus the Federal Government. Then you have the secessionist, clowns.
In The Present
Vice President Biden along with President Obama have formed Gun Control task forces to access the problems of gun violence stemming from the ” Gun Culture” in America. With little to no effect. Guns deaths, shootings, and purchasing of guns keep piling up. What is even more alarming is the growing death of children and teenagers by handguns from negligence by so-called responsible gun owners. [See The Facts]
As in the time before the onset of the Civil War, there is the fear mongering by assorted pro-gun groups leading to record sales of assault weapons. Not hunting rifles. Human killing guns all in the name of self-defense.
Slavery, Gun Rights, And The Second Amendment
There may be some things you are unaware of concerning the Second Amendment. When you dig deep to find the story behind the story as we do here in the House of Public Discourse, you often find things that get lost in the pages of history. However, this lost information can be critical and relevant in today’s gun debate. Our research has discovered the real reason for the Second Amendment.
The Right To Bear Arms
One reason I love writing is that words mean everything, especially in legal documents. In the Second Amendment, you must pay attention to the term ” free state.” See the Civil War was fought over .”States Rights” with the focal point being on economics which the power of ” free Labor” provided by Slavery was at issue. The fact you never hear mentioned is the reason for the term ” Free State and not Free Country,” were because of the need to preserve State Militia’s power to patrol and maintain Slaves in the Slavery States. If not many of the Southern States would have never signed the Constitution. Slavery and the Slave Trade was a big deal to our Founding Fathers. Patrick Henry, George Mason, and James Madison all Virginians were clear on this issue and WE The People today should be as well.
We make no bones about it the Second Amendment is directly linked to our countries disturbing history of Slavery. And, the problem is getting worst by the minute in these modern times we are in now. How? In the beginning, there were the Militia. In the South, they were called the Slave patrols.[Just In Case You Think We Are Making This Up.]
Slave Patrols Were A Profitable Business
These Slave Patrols were well regulated by the States. There were decrees put into place decades before the Civil War that all Plantation owners and white male employees must join a Militia. One of their primary directives were to perform monthly inspections of every Slave quarters in the State. The Slave Patrol members were trained on how to look for and handle any Slave uprisings. See, when you think about it, keeping all these Slaves in check was the first real job of policing in this country.
"Professor Bogus argues that there is strong reason to believe that, in significant part, James Madison drafted the Second Amendment to assure his constituents in Virginia, and the South generally, that Congress could not use its newly-acquired powers to indirectly undermine the slave system by disarming the militia, on which the South relied for slave control. It was always a fear of the White Slave owner in the times of Slavery that the Slaves would rise and revolt. There had to be a system in place and a legal instrument in place to allow for this ugly reality in our nation’s past. What were the keys to making this happen the legal right to bear arms and form militia or as we now know Slave Patrol?. There is no softening of the facts. Well, regulated Militia’s empowered by the Second Amendment were essential for keeping the Slaves in chains and the institution of Slavery alive.
The thing that correlates with today’s white supremacist, bigots, racist, and overgrown children playing Army in the woods, is that not all white males were required to serve. Just like today, only the fringes of society took an active part in the Slave Patrols. Judges, Lawyers, and Political Figures, often were not involved in this disgusting practice known as Slave Patrols. However, Sally Hadden in her highly regarded book ” Slave Patrols” pointed out that white males had to serve in one way or the other in these Militias or Slave Patrols at some point in their lives. Undoubtedly there were Slave rebellions and uprisings during the time of Slavery in America. Runaways kept these patrols busy.
What sticks out here like a sore thumb is that Slavery and any other form of control of one group of people over another can only be achieved through a ” Police State.” The enforcement of that Police State was the job of the Militia. Another primary concern of the Southerners were Abolitionist and other anti-slavery groups who were always petitioning for the ending of Slavery. They feared these groups would entice the Slaves to run away seeking refuge in the North. There had to be a mechanism in place to stop this. Patrick Henry, Geroge Mason, and James Madison knew this and the Second Amendment was the answer. Without the Second Amendment, the South would have been powerless to stop these advocates or the subsequent rebellions.

Take a good look at what political party is trying to raise this wage and that one is attempting to do away with a minimum wage altogether. With all the mass shootings and the clamoring by white hate groups about their heritage and their rights being taken away. Listen how politicians and right-wing pundits bump their chest and scream their rights should be determined by the States. You can’t help but hear the demonizing of the Federal Government the very government most of these backward thinking types depend on in some fashion or form. History Repeats Itself In Politics.

Since the end of the second World War, it has grown to the point of being unrecognizable to the everyday citizen. The mere expense of government flabbergast people, and the number of people or functionaries that serve our state is inconceivable to most Americans. There are thousands of lawyers and lobbyist that call our nation capital their home and workplace. Congress has staff members that reach well over 35k. It's this sense of vastness that have perpetuated many Americans to have a negative view of Washington D.C. The various servants of government flatter, one another, blame one another, strike poses together, issue bills together, make announcements together, the list is endless.[See Source]
What has transpired from all this bureaucracy and vastness is an American government of Fascism, Oligarchy, and Plutocracy.
It is the view of the House of Public Discourse that we see a battle fully joined right now. One of this writer's main mantra's is that history does repeat itself in politics. Looking at our present political environment we see echos of the 1800's and 1920's. The Koch Brothers have raised millions of dollars just two people with the help of about 300 other ultra rich Americans to essentially hijack our American democracy. Our research has found that what we see today was very similar to what was happening in America in 1799. During the John Adams presidency, we saw democracy giving way to the elites of that period and, of course, there was the " Alien and Sedition Act of 1798.
A series of laws known collectively as the Alien and Sedition were passed by the Federalist Congress in 1798 and signed into law by President Adams. These laws included new powers to deport foreigners as well as making it harder for new immigrants to vote.[See Source]
It's important to note that this elitist Act was duly overturned by the Thomas Jefferson Administration in the early 1800's. Thomas Jefferson and his political ideology were paramount in reversing the slide to Oligarchy back then, and boy do we need another Thomas Jefferson to reappear now in our governance. President Obama has done some but with not much success and his recent support of the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal has squashed whatever hopes of a true change candidate he proclaimed while running for office. We had another slide towards Oligarchy in the 1920's. Under the Harding Administration. Harding ran on the platform more business in government less government in business deregulate and privatize. Sound familiar? In 1920, they deregulated the banks. The Stock Market exploded and crashed promptly in 1929. Hence, the Great Depression. What is worth noting here is the Oligarch's had complete control of the economy and our government at the time just like right now in America.

Today the Koch Brothers and their Oligarch buddies are the prime examples of spokespersons for monopoly and vested interest.To obtain this goal, Oligarchs must capture the political power that is and has been these factions primary objective throughout American history. In our world today this very same objective is being thrust upon us by the Oligarchs of today. History does repeat itself in politics, and by using the power of the State and the free markets in conjunction a few elitist can control the world today. And, what is the one thing that keeps them in check We The People?[Government] Government regulation is the one thing that can keep these Vulture Capitalists from destroying our democracy, our middle-class, and our air, river, and streams. By obtaining both the power of the markets and the state these factions can dictate to We The People whether we like it or not. In a phrase, they want us under their eternal subjection.
After the 2014 mid-term election, Republicans gained more power in state legislatures than any other time in their parties history. This power goes back to the time of Lincoln. The GOP control 69 of 99 state chambers in the country. This control is more than any other time in American history. Our research here in the House of Public Discourse would submit to you because of the money influence that has been allowed free reign by legal proclamations like Citizen United, and the all out attack on our civil rights to vote. In 1980, David Koch ran for Vice-President on the Libertarian Party ticket and lost. Now, the Koch's and their billionaire buddies want just like Oligarchs of past to control everything. In fact, their money today has more power than any vice-president would ever have in a million years. So, what are these Oligarchs doing with this power today? For starters, they have built think tanks for the promotion of Plutocracy.
Plutocracy (from Greek πλοῦτος, ploutos, meaning "wealth", and κράτος, kratos, meaning "power, dominion, rule") or plutarchy, is a form of oligarchy and defines a society or a system ruled and dominated by the small minority of the wealthiest citizens. These goals by the billionaire class is a very real battle facing We The People.[Ordinary People] The future of our democracy is on the line. The future of the Unite States is on the line. Are we going to allow a select few billionaires to lord it over us or are we going to fight to save our middle class that made our country the real shining light on the hill? That's the question we need to answer in the coming 2016 election? Are we going to allow our country to sink back to the times of the 1920's that led to the Great Depression or are we going to rise and take back our country from the Oligarchs? As we begin the 2016 Presidential Election in earnest knowing who your constituents are is vital and even more important where they came from, in short, their history. In asking myself this question with the task of answering it properly my study was quickly directed to a term Mussolini American Republicans. They claimed FDR's New Deal would lead to collective irresponsibility. Not unlike today's Tea Party, they claimed the fertile and beneficent inequality of men cannot be leveled by suffrage.

Our research in the House of Public Discourse has concluded that the modern-day Tea Party is nothing more than a fascist movement motivated by racism and enabled by Authoritarianism. With the 2008 election rendering America, the first person of color to the White House created the spark to ignite this reemergence of blatant Fascism in America. The movement has been spearheaded by the American Christian Right. See the right-wing authoritarian follower is easily brainwashed. The late Jerry Falwell, Pat Roberston, and John Hagee have been some of the biggest perpetrators with a list growing daily. TV Pastors see money in Fascism, Racism, and Authoritarianism. They are obvious power and control seekers.

Another similarity, just like the Mussolini American Republicans hated FDR the same can be said of the Tea Party towards Barack Obama.
The Tea Party tries to sell their organization as a cross-section of America. They allege they are a nonpartisan mix of Democrats, Independents, and Republicans. This is absurd. Our research in the HOPD clearly reveals that the Tea Party is primarily made up of Right-Wing Authoritarian Followers who make up the ranks of the Republican Social Conservative faction within the party. The study points out over a dozen traits found in Tea Party members were consistent with Authoritarianism. These evaluation were based on the answers given by those participating in the study. All of these answers were a clear indication that a vast majority of Tea Party members suffer from "The Hitler Syndrome."
THE RELIGIOUS-REICH AND RIGHT WING DEATH SQUADS
Russ Limbaugh stated on a national radio station he wanted the right-wing death squads to come to America. What appalls this writer is our tax dollars funded these death squads? The American Republican Right has sponsored one of the most bazaars morally reprehensible acts ever in the history of man that is only rivaled by today's Isis. All this killing was done in the name of "GOD." Under Ronald Reagan, he merged the CIA operation with the " Vatican." In Reagan's zeal to bring down Communism, he empowered several former Nazis in Eastern Europe. Our study found that many of these operatives were Holocaust deniers. Moderate and Liberal Priest who opposed the Nazis doctrine were removed from power. Under G.W. Bush, the Bill of Rights was annulled. This annulment granted the now merged CIA and Vatican the right to spy on any American for any reason. What very few Americans realize is that our U. S. Supreme Court was given over to the Vatican.
In England, Bush's counterpart Tony Blair restored the Church of England to the Vatican and the E.U, was brought under the control of the Vatican.
All of this was by design a plan and now the last piece of the puzzle. This activity was said to prove GOD's forgiveness. And, while Rome's GOD had plenty of forgiveness for Nazis and pedophiles it strangely couldn't find any for the Nazis resistors in the Church.

A South Carolina Roman Catholic priest has told his parishioners that they should refrain from receiving Holy Communion if they voted for Barack Obama because the Democratic president-elect supports abortion and supporting him "constitutes material cooperation with intrinsic evil."[See Source] It became apparent that no matter what President Obama does the extreme racist Religious Right Nazis were going to criticize, obstruct, and commit sedition in this writers view. Unbiased Research Tells The Real Truth About Israel
To Coin A Republican Phrase To The Poor, Go Fend For Yourself! If you are reading here expecting a balanced accounting of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, stop now because you will be sorely disappointed. As a researcher and writer of politics, I take pride in reporting what the facts are and not the hyperbole. I say this because the events surrounding this conflict, when told from a non-bias perspective, will be difficult to absorb if all you know about this issue is from mainstream media outlets. I say don't expect a balanced accounting because this conflict is one of imbalance, and there can be no equilibrium when facts reveal there is severe civil injustice prodded by a people upon another people, which is the case in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict.
Granted the American people have strong opinions about this conflict one way or the other. However, opinions do not equate to facts. For anyone to claim that there is or ever was balance in this conflict, he is either misinformed or in denial. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is covered in so much myth and double standard. For example. In PM Netanyahu's 2012 speech at the UN, you get a clear indication of the myth and double standard.

PM Netanyahu begins his remarks with the assertion that Jews lay claim to the land based on a decree from King David some 3000 years ago. The Jews call it the "right of return." It's important to point out that these Jews marked for return were not the same Jews who were expelled some centuries ago by, if you know your Bible, GOD himself. See, if you know your Bible, this was not the first time GOD past judgment on these stiff-necked people (Bible's description, not mine). Also, these Jews who were earmarked for return were not descendants either. Calling these Jews descendants would liken me to calling myself the offspring of the Pilgrims . I make this point because what Jew is a descendant of Jesus? Oh, I forgot the Jews are just like the Muslims, they don't believe in Jesus. In actuality, the Jews claim some heritage to the land based on a Book more and more people today find suspect. The claim is Zionism, in a nutshell. You would expect that if a people[Jews] felt entitled to the land based on heritage they would accept that as a principle across the board.
You never hear a Jew or the American media expound on the " right of return," of the Palestinian people and if you do, it pales in comparison to the Jews in the biased American media. Then based on our source here in the House of Public Discourse you hear, in fact, Jews proclaiming that the Palestinians don't have the same rights. Hence, the " double-standard."
What's interesting about this double standard is in creating a land for one group of people [Jews]we created refugees out of another.[Palestinians] The major question in this issue you never hear asked or reported on is: Who were the indigenous people of the land historically, and which group of people were forced from their homes? In the Israeli -Palestinian Conflict, the people with the " Keys and the Deeds," were kicked out of their homes and forced to live as nomads. Our source explained there are Palestinians still living today who can show you where their family living area [Family Farm] was that is now an Israeli highway.
With this said, the reality is a small group of people denied rights to a large group of people and with such a case self-evident violence is a given. Conflict is a given. Civil-Injustice is a given.
This conflict is the granddaddy of all double standards. In the 2012 UN speech, PM Netanyahu relied on the Bible account of King David as the Jews claim to a heritage. However, many researchers and academia through exhaustive study question if he ever existed. King David to many is nothing more than a Jewish myth. We report this because archaeologists have dug up the Holy Land trying to find evidence and have turned up nothing on this great King David of the Bible.
Here is the reality. Right now! This minute! Palestinians are being kicked out of their homes and forced into exile by the use of force in order to prove that this mythical figure existed.[Palestinian Point of View]
America's attitude is changing on this. America's Fed Up With Israel.
Now, in the present, we have these 47 traitors from the Republican Party have us clamoring for war once again. Their behavior is nothing new. Many feel it's way past time for America to revisit its foreign relations with Israel. This relationship and the need for support from the [Jewish Lobby] has driven U.S. policy in the region long enough.
Israel has had such control over our foreign policy in the area we should be in " let's start over mode." Millions upon Millions are at stake in campaign contributions. You factor in the Jewish owned Press, and we see where this imbalance originates. Sincerely.
Both parties need to reevaluate attitudes based on the fact that growing numbers of Americans are asking legitimate questions about why we spend so much of our money on Israel. [See Source]
The poll echoes a Gallup survey from last week.Gallup asked Americans whether they thought Israel's recent actions were justified. While older Americans clearly sided with Israel, 18 to 29-year olds said by a two-to-one margin (51-25) that its actions were unjustified. No other group was as strongly opposed to Israel's actions.
The National Journal's Ron Fournier had this take on the demographic split: "...it's a warning that Israel's decades-old public relations and political dominance is coming to an end unless the nation's leaders change the narrative and reset their strategic position with moderate Palestinians."
Our President
President Obama's diplomatic efforts with Iran are totally within his sphere of authority, moreover, represent the attitudes of the people who voted him into office. As of the rendition of this writing, some untold thousands and growing daily have signed a petition to bring these senators to trial. The letter these 47 Senators sent to Iran was not only the biggest example of congressional overreach but also it was a national embarrassment and disgrace and clearly obstruction of justice for lack of term. It is clear as the nose on one's face they[GOP] were trying to undermine our president's role and duty to carry out foreign policy deemed in the best interest of the people who elected him. There is much distrust in American foreign policy globally. Unfortunately, we are not that shining city on the hill President Reagan spoke. The Bush Administration has seen to that. What we do not hear much about is the impact of this letter and why this effect reaches the level of treason. This stunt by the GOP may be one of the dumbest, most criminal acts done with malice and aforethought with an arrogance that " Act of Treason," is a valid question. Hypothetically, harken back to the 1960's when President Kennedy[JFK] and Russia were staring each other down and people were constructing fallout shelters. What if a bunch of GOP Senators had written a letter to Russia telling them that negotiating with President Kennedy was in vain?
Moreover, think about it. What this letter said to Iran was no matter what you and Obama work out we going to bomb you in two years when we take the White House.
The effect has been to throw a wrench into the possible peaceful resolution to a 30-year-old conflict. Moreover, there is this American arrogance that suggests we hold the high ground in the issue internationally. Russian and China, to name a few, are doing business with Iran in spite of Israel and America. Its imminent focus to sabotage the talks has failed, but it gives Iranian officials a moment of pause on the political future of America. This letter is proof positive that the Senate can't be trusted with diplomatic issues. The Logan Act got it right.
Is the American experiment under crisis? Today you can ask five people their interpretation of any given constitutional question, and chances are you will get five different viewpoints. Our founding fathers gathered themselves in a small room in Philadelphia to hash out what at the time was nothing more than a governmental experiment, to form a new type of government for a new country they would call the United States of America. Not only were there no assurances that it would work but history at the time told them it wouldn't. In their day, nations were ruled by rulers, not rules. Kings told everyone else what to do. A government run by the people themselves was an old idea; however, it had never worked. People fight with each other. It's human nature. People are messy, they have their interests, and they disagree. Rulers knew it took armies to keep people under control. These men [Founding Fathers] believed it took a constitution. They felt they could create institutions that would let conflict occur, then deal with it and that people would accept the outcome. That is, in fact, what they believed. In the Spring of 1787 it was time to deliver. There was much indecision as to whether they could. The Constitution was written in a time of crisis. Our founding fathers at that moment knew if they failed, their country would fail. They responded by starting a nation in a small room with just a handful of ideas.[See Sources]
Many of the images and ideas we have of our founding fathers comes from 19th-Century historians. These historians advocated GOD himself handed down the Constitution.
Thomas Jefferson was a founding father. Jefferson wrote the " Declaration of Independence." Jefferson called the men who wrote the Constitution demagogues. So what did this make Thomas Jefferson? Our founding fathers are the equivalent to " Greek Gods" in America. We The People have transformed these men into larger than life figures. We have written untold books about them and have cast them in bronze. We have made educational films about them with many of those films' facts being entirely unsubstantiated. The average school child in America has been taught to speak of these men in a hushed whisper. These men were going to be whisked straight to heaven. These were real men that faced real challenges, but they were not gods. Our research here at the House of Public Discourse has found several who did not believe in God period. These men knew they were not gods. In fact, they were in fear of any man who would march himself a god. King George II ring a bell? Our research found these men would be disgusted at the reverence "We The People," pay these men. Some of them would for sure. We should admire these men by all means but to give them GOD status is over-the-top. We should find solace in that these men were not " Supermen. " They were just ordinary men involved in an extraordinary ordeal of forming and shaping a new country, a new nation that the world had never experienced before: the'' American Experiment."
For the record, Ben Franklin felt the Constitution would last about ten years.
The Articles of Confederation were a disaster and the primary reason for much of the conflict. So history tells us that the first Constitution of America was a failure. The Articles of Confederation did not bind the new states together into one nation. This document functioned as a " league of friendship." We must remember the populists of that time still had the memories of being ruled and lorded over. The population was wary of any identity that would somehow become too dominant. And as back then as is the order of the day today, people were Virginians, North Carolinian's, Pennsylvanians, and New Yorkers. Sectionalism was rampant. Just like in these modern times these citizens clamored for states' rights. These states saw themselves as sovereign nations. In practice, they kind of, sorta, made an agreement to work together with other states. These arrangements fell apart so quickly that it boggles the mind. One of the biggest problems was there was no power of taxation. Under the Articles of Confederation, the United States government was flat broke. The US could not afford to protect ships on the Atlantic from pirates. They could not protect citizens on the western borders either. Each state printed its money. For example, the state of New York was charging Connecticut and New Jersey an " arm and a leg" for everything coming into its port. So, in turn, these states planned a military attack on New York. The real breaking point was Shay's Rebellion.

In closing, Part 1 of this series of articles, do you the reader see where we here at the House of Public Discourse are going? This writer believes that history, in fact, does repeat itself. Sectionalism is on the rise in America. The Articles of Confederation were a complete failure falling prey to sectionalism. Is our great "American Experiment." the Constitution of the United States, destined to go the way of the Articles of Confederation? Today, there is much talk of secession. Sectionalism has risen its ugly face more and more by the day. We are seeing shades of the Shay's Rebellion rearing its head through hate groups, radicalized religious zealots, political corruption, and domestic terrorism just to name a few.
