Dominion Theology Is A Cult

Every day you see in the news or our social media timelines some wacky statement from a politician, Pastor, Priest or right wing pundit that the world is coming to an end. They pummel us that this demise is because of abortion, same-sex marriage, and removing prayer from school are the reasons. They blame the progressive social agenda is behind it all.

Woman are being fired from their jobs for getting mammograms. We have seen gay people rights violated for being who they are. The "Christian Right" and political factions and players who are under their spell or in their pocketbooks have waged a full-blown attack on the church and state clause in our constitution.

There is an enormous difference between a conspiracy theory and covert plan to take dominion over society. The House of Public Discourse has been for years now eyeballing the activity of the Dominionist in America. There is an evil plan that has been in the works for years. And, unless we wake up there plan once deemed too radical to ever work will be materialized by these demons parading as Christians. Dominion Theology is a cult.

Radio Host David Pakman recently spoke to Rachel Tabachnick, researcher, writer, and speaker on the impact of the Religious Right and one of the foremost authorities on Dominionism.

There are Dominionist running for President in 2016, and the House of Public Discourse will be covering their escapades. When you see people advocating Moses as a founding father you have seen a Dominionist. When you see groups trying to replace science with the Bible, you have seen a Dominionist cult. When you hear Jeb Bush claim that unwed mothers are shameful, you have heard a Dominionist. When you read about politicians on both the state and federal government levels implementing legislation such as the recent Religious Freedom Act, your civil liberties have been violated by a Dominionist. For a detailed analysis on Dominionism read: " The Counterfeit Promise Of Dominionism."

The Christian Fascist and Their Political Religion

Lakewood Church Houston Texas
One of the biggest things this writer has noticed living in the same city Houston, Texas as  Joel Osteen's Lakewood mega-church is that it's totally isolated from the community. Our research here in the House of Public Discourse has found this  isolation is not unlike all mega-churches around the nation. They do not reach out to other denominations. They do not reach out to the public schools. They could care less about local officials. The only two groups we found them to reach out to were law enforcement and the military.

U.S. Marine Corp appreciation day. State Trooper Sunday. Our source reports they would bring these people in and praise them for their Christian service. It is the position of the House of Public Discourse they know full well what they are doing. These forces of coercion within a society are fundamental if any radical movement is going to succeed. Over the last several decades in America, our governance has been overrun with radical right Christian extremism. These religious groups and organization not content with religious matters have holy-rolled themselves into the public sphere of government. They have brought this to materialization through deeply funded media outlets and expounded their rhetoric through networks like the 700 Club, TBN, CBN, and others.

There is no greater example of Christian extremism finding its way into our politics than televangelist John Hagee. Pastor Hagee proclaims the U.S. must join Israel in a preemptive military strike against Iran. The nitwit overweight pastor says GOD ordains it himself and it would be the fulfillment of an end -time Biblical prophesy. This confrontation with Iran will lead to the Rapture and the second-coming of Christ.

Watch Pastor Hagee Stink His Nose Where It Does Not Belong.

So, What Do These Self-Proclaimed Christians Really Want?

Political Religion is what these people want. Political Religion is a non-church religion that has a spirituality aligned to combat and struggle. While it may employ democratic means to achieve its goals it frequently resorts to violence, and so generates fear in the communities it targets. Religions infiltration into our 21st century politics is the greatest problem facing our country and world. See, in short, if we did away with religion no one would have a reason to kill and die for. Modern day science professional have been advocating this for many years. This becoming a reality, however, is far-fetched. The problem with religion is not what people believe personally. Political Religion becomes dangerous when this personal belief system becomes involved in political decision-making.

The founding fathers of America particularly Jefferson and Madison were insistent that one's faith in GOD was of a personal nature and not a matter of the state. The issues lie in dogma and the interpretation from that point of view. The problems come into play when these dogma's begin to influence laws, judicial issues, and when people aren't discussing these issues based on 21st century attitudes. Political Religion becomes even more dangerous when religion and nationalist views coalesce so that it  forms a political ideology.[See: James Madison On Church and State]

We The People are already seeing how these ideas have created a political divide in America and have cause some unstable individuals to act out in violence. What is missing in this equation is the lack of critical thinking at least from the American political right who shun intellectualism and have been for a dumbing down of America since the Reagan years. What the facts are is these radical Christian zealots like the Dominionist don't use critical thinking whatsoever they use mystical superstition thinking. This thinking and its infiltration into our political process is the biggest danger this country and world faces today.

One might ask why this is dangerous? It's dangerous cause World War III could be the result not of some mythical Bible story but due to a lack of critical thinking.[See Source]

It is the view of the House of Public Discourse that Americans need to stop fuzzing over taxes, economics, and social issues. We should draw a line in the sand on our countries future and rebuke these mystical  thinkers who beat the drums of war to their dumb downed minion. Political hacks like Ted Cruz and Rand Paul and this real nutcase Ben Carson, while highly educated themselves they are playing to the least common denominators of our society for support.[See: Why Do Poor Uneducated White People Vote Republican?]

The attitude of "American Exceptionalism"  and this horrid belief system that somehow America was a nation founded on Biblical principles could be the primary factor in our nation's demise.

James Madison On Church and State

There is one thing for certain when reporting on the issue of church and state; there will be those people no matter the evidence will insist that the American Constitution is founded on Christian principles. These same people are the very ones who totally disregard the existence of the separation of church and state. In our past reporting, here at the House of Public Discourse. We have provided evidence and quotes from our founding fathers that show clearly and without any ambiguity that their empathic intentions were not to co-mingle government and religion. We intend on taking a look at one of our most prominent founding fathers James Madison and go where the research takes us on his position regarding this much in the spotlight effect of our modern times.[See Source]

Who Was James Madison?

James Madison  is widely known and recognized as the " Father of the Constitution." Madison more than any other founding father is responsible for the construction of the First Amendment. Our first example of Madison position on church and  state is his, "Memorial and Remonstrance Against Religious Assessments"    document. This document was in response to him opposing a bill  that would have allowed tax-support for Christian ministers in the state of Virginia.

Here is James Madison first point of a fifteen-point memorandum concerning this proposed legislation.

Because we hold it for a fundamental and undeniable truth, "that religion or the duty which we owe to our Creator and the manner of discharging it, can be directed only by reason and conviction, not by force or violence." The Religion then of every man must be left to the conviction and conscience of every man; and it is the right of every man to exercise it as these may dictate.
This right is in its nature an unalienable right. It is unalienable, because the opinions of men, depending only on the evidence contemplated by their own minds cannot follow the dictates of other men: It is unalienable also, because what is here a right towards men, is a duty towards the Creator. It is the duty of every man to render to the Creator such homage and such only as he believes to be acceptable to him. This duty is precedent, both in order of time and in degree of obligation, to the claims of Civil Society. Before any man can be considered as a member of Civil Society, he must be considered as a subject of the Governor of the Universe: And if a member of Civil Society, do it with a saving of his allegiance to the Universal Sovereign. We maintain therefore that in matters of Religion, no man's right is abridged by the institution of Civil Society and that Religion is wholly exempt from its cognizance. True it is, that no other rule exists, by which any question which may divide a Society, can be ultimately determined, but the will of the majority; but it is also true that the majority may trespass on the rights of the minority. [ Source: James Madison]

There are many sources that give us a window into the mind of James Madison concerning the separation of church and state. One such source is his letter to Jasper Adams.

Jasper Adams was president of the College of Charleston. He had sent Madison a copy of his pamphlet, The Relation of Christianity to Civil Government in the United States, and requested Madison's comments. Adams contested the view "that Christianity had no connection with our civil government." Rather, he argued, "the people of the United States have retained the Christian religion as the foundation of their civil, legal, and political institutions." Adams sent the pamphlet to numerous other statesmen, including John Marshall and justice Joseph Story. Marshall replied, "The American population is entirely Christian, and with us, Christianity and religion are identified." Story went further, writing, "I have read it with uncommon satisfaction. I think its tone and spirit excellent. My own private judgment has long been (and every day's experience more and more confirms me in it) that government can not long exist without an alliance with religion; and that Christianity is indispensable to the true interests and sold foundations of free government."
Madision, of course, disagreed. In his reply, Madison argues that history demonstrates that religion flourishes most freely when it is not supported by the state, and that the state should not impose religion on its citizens.

Madison Argued That Religion Should Survive on Its Own Merits.

In fact, James Madison advocated a strict separation of church and state because he felt distrust for the appeals of irrational sources of authority in the American Republic.[(James Madison on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, p. 150] [See Source]

It's important to remember that James Madison considered himself a Christian. Whereas Franklin, Jefferson, and Thomas Paine did not. So, we here at the House of Public Discourse have chosen a founding father who, in fact, considered himself to be of the faith. Madison's summary of the First Amendment clearly pointed out that Congress should not establish a religion and enforce the legal observation of it by any law. [See Source]  Madison went on to express that no act of Congress should compel anyone to worship God in any manner contrary to their conscience. Moreover, no one sect of religion might obtain a pre-eminence over another. That no religion should be established that would force the citizenry to conform too. [Annals of Congress, Sat Aug 15th, 1789 pages 730-731] [See Source] What James Madison has expressed over and over is that religion is and should be distinct from civil government and exempt from its cognizance.

"The settled opinion here is that religion is essentially distinct from Civil Government, and exempt from its cognizance; that a connexion between them is injurious to both; that there are causes in the human breast, which ensure the perpetuity of religion without the aid of the law; that rival sects, with equal rights, exercise mutual censorships in favor of good morals; that if new sects arise with absurd opinions or over-heated maginations, the proper remedies lie in time, forbearance and example; that a legal establishment of religion without a toleration could not be thought of, and with toleration, is no security for public quiet and harmony, but rather a source itself of discord and animosity; and, finally, that these opinions are supported by experience, which has shewn that every relaxation of the alliance between. " [James Madison]

The Tyranny of Religion.

How many heads have been chopped off by the Catholic church in the name of God.? How many blacks in America have been hung on a tree limb in the name of God? How many millions of souls have died in so-called Holy-Wars in the name of God? How many people have been swindled by so-called preachers of the faith in the name of God? How many children have been molested by clergy representing themselves as agents of God? Concerned.  I am.

I am very concerned about the behavior and the actions of the Christian Right in our country. In our exhaustive research here at the House of Public Discourse, we have uncovered the fact our founding fathers were concerned about religious fanatics of their times as well. There is such a widespread misconception among the populist on what the founding fathers like James Madison intentions for America would be. Ever since the implementation of the Southern Strategy[ See Article] by the Republican Party to garner support from the social conservatives we have seen nothing but a downward slope of radical Christian dogmas manifest.

Much of this manifestations took the form as political " faith-based- programs," for example George Bush's, Sr. thousand-points of light.

Bush, Sr. program was nothing more than a request to give our tax dollars to religious groups. The same exact thing that James Madison rebuke back in Virginia that we aforementioned in this article. I can remember Jerry Falwell being with hands out. Pat Robertson was there with hand out. Truth be told both Falwell and Robertson got rich off this religious facade.  To the point, they got rich off the government money. Now, in the present we are giving tax- payer money to religious schools were wide-spread misallocation of said monies is commonplace. Many of these religious schools are indoctrinating our young people with  misinformation based on interpretation of the agendas of the "religions "denominational mandates. In fairness, Bill Clinton continued the program cause the bottom-line this entailed votes. When George Bush, II got into office he put these religious terms on super-steroids.[See Article] And, current president Obama has inherited all this religious hog-wash. As, of the rendition of this article has done nothing to stop it. We have a far-reaching problem in this country, and this problem all harkens back to the very fears many of our founding fathers had like James Madison. What was that fear?

That Religious Zealots Were Going To Get Inside Of Government!

With these false man-made religious doctrines flourishing and being propagated by people with questionable motives, it is apparent there is a tranny being opposed on the minds of the people. As we reported in our last article which highlighted David Barton. When it comes to quoting the Bible to apply it to a secular situation context is everything. Radical right-wing preachers and pundits like David Barton, John Hagee, Glenn Beck, and Pat Robertson have made a living on quoting our founding fathers and the Bible out of context.

In closing its time to put the sources to the side and write from the heart. It is not our mission here at the House of Public Discourse to bash religion. In fact, we feel we are doing what God's unabated word instructs us to do. As liberal thinkers, it's not our intentions to bring you to Christ. We are not qualified or do we have the authority to do so. Our motives are to make one aware that our present day society is being over-ran with what our research reveals to be false teachings, and out and out fakes preaching from the pulpits. Moreover, that these people through their very design have infiltrated our government in direct contradiction to our Constitution.

People are sitting in church Sunday after Sunday. Year after year. Listening to the pastors in every aspect of religion from the little brown church in the dale to massive mega-churches set up in old basketball arenas. These modern day religious quacks are, in fact, fulfilling a Bible prophecy.

Jesus Explained:

When you are being preached to and are following false teaching according to Jesus, these so-called holy-men are leading you to your self-destruction. It's the blind leading the blind. People love their pastors and churches. The facts tend to show that many love their pastors and churches more than Jesus. Just because a person is standing behind a pulpit or has a TV ministry does not mean they are preaching in spirit and truth.

Modern Day Pastors Pervert God's Word For Their Purposes.

And the burden of the Lord shall ye mention no more: for every man's word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the Lord of hosts our God. [ Jeremaih 23:36]

The Bible instructs us not to believe every spirit, but to examine the motives and pay attention to their actions.[See Source] Because many false prophets have gone unto this world to prey on the vulnerable. Be aware of these priests who want to preach a message of prosperity by following them to Christ. Be aware of preachers who say following them will be your means of self-improvement. If a pastor approaches you with a message of following, him will teach you life-skills in a word, run.
In this writer, five-year study of the Bible I independently documented how many of the most famous preachers in modern-day Christendom follow their teachings and not that of the Bible. Naming names would only inflame the topic and take away from the overall goal and motivation from the House of Public Discourse, which is to encourage one to examine what their preachers are teaching them.

See, their motivation is clear. They want to have large congregations and massive amounts of TV followers to contribute to their ministry and then claim their good fortune is due to their diligence in Christ that backs up this bogus prosperity ministry hearsay. Our mission is to shake the apple tree, to awaken the mind to this misleading religious dogma.

What these modern-day brood of vipers are doing in practice is spoiling man salvation based of the Bible with vain philosophies and deceit after the traditions of men. The Bible fore-told of these men and that because these priests, pastors,  reverends, and self-proclaimed prophets speak of things of this world that many will fall to their snare.
What is very troubling is that this is the very thing our founding fathers were afraid would happen. Religious organizations would find its way into our governance. We have seen this religious cancer grow over the years. We have seen these factions use and abuse and misrepresent the intentions of our founding fathers. Let us not be fooled any longer.

Dominionist, The Players Past And Present. [Part 2]

According to the Dominionist, government has a role as " God's Avenger."

"...Government... derives its moral authority from God. It is the minister of God with powers to 'avenge,' to 'execute wrath' including wrath even by sword." [See Source]
It is just this type hearsay that has come to be commonplace with many adherents of Dominion Theology. One recent example of  this gossip came in the form of a book entitled, " Jefferson Lies." It's author, David Barton, [Dominionist] in a word 'rewrote' history in his now debunked book.

The World According To David Barton.

David Barton
It is imperative to make a quantified comparison here on the " Pilgrim America." Which based on our research was ultimately a religious- based society. And,"Revolutionary America,"which based on our research wasn't. These were two entirely different America's. So,what does this American history have to do with David Barton? Firstly, David  Barton is a very well-known religious author who has promoted America as being a nation founded on Christian principles. One of his calling cards is to come out on stage with some old looking documents claiming them to be original. Barton contends that the founding fathers formed the American government as a vehicle to spread the gospel. The problem with Barton's contention is that it's grossly wrong. Provable wrong. Secondly, Barton's argument is a false one based on the evidence. What David Barton does is skew the facts to a Christian Right slant by manipulating the data. Barton attempts to make it appear the founders believed certain things when in fact they did not. What Barton does is to detach individual quotes from a broader text and manipulates them to fit his purpose. It is very easy to persuade the right-wing authoritarian follower. They not only tend to be under- educated they tend to be anti-this and anti-that and are easy targets. [See Article] Read, " Personality Traits Of The Right-Wing Extremist."

David Barton is the Pastor to the Tea Party crowd. Michelle Bachman (R-MN) calls Barton a " treasure to our nation," former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee stated that Barton was the " single best historian in America today." [See Source]  Nutball journalist, Glenn Beck once called Barton, the " most important man in America".

What is very troubling is David Barton's growing influence with Republican and Libertarian politicians. He distorts history and the Constitution for political purposes. He promotes religiously non-Biblical doctrines which divide and give no preference to religious minorities. Barton has made a living on feeding the toxic political climate in America. Barton preaches that political opponents are not just wrong they are evil and anti-God. [See Source]

Hear David Barton At Work.

You shall surely set a king over you whom the LORD your God chooses, one from among your countrymen you shall set as king over yourselves; you may not put a foreigner over yourselves who is not your countryman. [Deuteronomy 17:15] As you can see Barton likes to skew the meaning of the scriptures to manipulate them to serve his purpose. Last time I checked we got a president and not a king. Moreover, President Obama has fully vetted his birth-certificate for the whole world to see. However, Barton wants to influence the least common denominator of our society poor under- educated white people who tend to vote for the Republican Party. What is important here is to learn how David Barton operates. In doing so, you can get a clear indication on how the entire Dominion Theology works. Barton has been found to put out false quotations from the founders. In short, accuracy is not Barton's watchword. Why should we be worried about the likes of David Barton? For starters, many Americans have not heard of Barton. However, the people driving the Republican agenda have. To the Republican Party he is not on the fringe. In the past, Barton was used by the Republican Party to get the evangelical vote.

In addition, Barton has been recently embraced by Republican presidential candidates like Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, Michelle Bachman, Rick Santorum, Rick Perry, and Sara Palin. [See Source]  Barton has been welcomed into the halls of Congress and had influence over these lawmakers. Another thing that is dangerous about David Barton is his making every issue a religious one. Claiming that God has a particular position on every secular issue of our time. In fact, Barton contends if you disagree with him you disagree with the " God Almighty," himself. If you don't fall in step with his thinking, you are anti-God. In this writer's view, nothing is more dangerous than a Christian zealot on steroids.

David Barton Wants To Remake America.

" Money does not belong to the government, it belongs to individuals, and to steal money from individuals through whatever government spending program is taking private property."
I wonder what the position of the Republican Party is on tax money going to subsidize the oil and gas industry or the tax money that has gone to war profiteering companies like Haliburton. Or the largest spending government program period, the military.[See Article] As a person who studied the Bible for five straight years, I found nothing that even remotely advocates the type of things spewing from Barton's rhetoric. The bottom-line this behavior by Barton is typical among Dominionist. Our research here at the House of Public Discourse has analyzed this to the point where the fact is as follows. With the infiltration of Dominionist into our public sphere at all levels of government [See Article] whether it is spoken or unspoken these factions debate every issue from a theological perspective in total disregard to our nations Constitution. How this viewpoint plays out in the practical is that God wants them to oppose the minium wage, God wants them to oppose Obamacare, God wants them to oppose same-sex-marriage, and so forth. This attitude creates an almost impossible atmosphere for compromise. What we are seeing is a concerted effort by Republican political activist and planners. To merge the Religious Right, with the anti-government Tea Party, and right-wing white hate groups to fight all progressive agendas in the name of ' God Almighty. David Barton then comes along claiming there is a Biblical basis for this practice.

James Madison

In closing, the House of Public Discourse would draw our readers to the attention of  one of our nations founders James Madison. Who we will be writing about in our next article dealing with the separation of church and state.

"I must admit moreover that it may not be easy, in every possible case, to trace the line of separation between the rights of religion and the civil authority with such distinctness as to avoid collisions and doubts on unessential points. The tendency to a usurpation on one side or the other or to a corrupting coalition or alliance between them will be best guarded against by entire abstinence of the government from interference in any way whatever, beyond the necessity of preserving public order and protecting each sect against trespasses on its legal rights by others." (Letter Rev. Jasper Adams, Spring 1832).

Dominionist, The Players Past And Present. [Part 1]

Back earlier this month here at the House of Public Discourse we posted an article titled: Separation Of Church and State, Unplugged. As a political writer, I find no greater issue in our present- day discourse than the infusion of religion into our political system. In my mind, this issue was settled at the inception of America becoming a free nation and the framing of the Constitution.  There have always been factions in America. In the last 40 years, there has been an all out assault on the idea known as " separation of church and state." The factions behind this assault have successfully infiltrated the Republican Party and are influencing political policy at the local, state, and federal levels.

These factions go by many names. The Christian Right. The Religious Right. Christian Reconstruction and lastly Dominionism.

What we have seen being played recently with America electing its first person of color to the White House is  the return of the Christian Right to its racist past. There has always been a conflict in America between church and state. What we have seen transpire here in the last 10 to 15 years is a water down Reconstructionist world- view into a relatively  new theology called Dominionism. Hence, Dominionist.

The Conflict.

Dominionist, The Players Past And Present.

The origin of Dominionism and the Dominionist.

Rousas Rushdoony
The late Rousas Rushdoony had a vision for this country and the world that was very extreme. Rushdoony wrote some 30 books and created a religious movement in this country called Christian Reconstruction. His vision was to reconstruct American laws back to the Hebrew scriptural law.[Old Testament] Rushdoony advocated that Christianity and Democracy were enemies. [ R.J. Rushdoony, The Independent Republic, 1964, p. 122] His Institute for Biblical Law book series is a rendition of how the ten commandments should apply to modern day law. Rushdoony instructed his flock to "... subdue all things and all nations to Christ and His law-word." [See Source] Rushdoony advocates the death penalty for anyone who sins against the 'Ten Commandments.' Homosexuals, anyone  involved in abortion, blasphemy, adultery,  disobedient children, and others would " get the gas," or now, the injection. Rushdoony was so extreme that at first many organized denomination in Christendom did not take him serious. In the beginning, the Christian Reconstruction movement had few followers and many critics.

Enter Rushdoony's son-in-law Gary North, founder of the Institute for Christian Economics. And, what do we have? A family affair. North has been given credit as being a prolific Christian Reconstructionist writer. Gary North said of his Father-in-law:

"Rushdoony's writings are the source of many of the core ideas of the New Christian Right's political activism."[Source: talk2action.org]

Although Christian Reconstruction may seem far-fetched to many Americans, the philosophy has, in fact, provided the basis for  much of the Religious Right's thinking and activism.[Source: Theocracywatch.org] Stripped of some of its more extreme features many of the dogmas of Christian Reconstructionist are the driving forces behind factions like the Christian Coalition. What our research and narrative here at the House of Public Discourse intends to reveal is how this water-downed version of Christian Reconstruction has reinvented itself in the form of Dominionism. Moreover, how the Dominionist has infiltrated all facets of local, state, and federal government even the White House.[See Article]
Marvin Olasky

Marvin Olasky is an elder in the Redeemer Prebsybitarian Church. A church that embraces a Christian Reconstruction world-view, Olasky had a profound influence on George Bush. Olasky was a major player in Bush's faith- based programs. It was Olasky who wrote a book in 2000 called " Compassionate  Conservatism."  George Bush II wrote the forward. The book was well written and very moving. You feel reading the book that Olasky is a warm and loving father. I think its fair to say the people who follow Christian Reconstruction are not bad people. From our research we find many beautiful, caring and decent people. Christian Reconstructionist believes deeply in what they are doing. They just believe the world would be a better place if everyone believed the way they do.

In his book, Olasky didn't see any problems with government that funds charities that proselytize. He is not concerned about poor, vulnerable people having to embrace a particular faith to receive help. Olasky influence over Bush demonstrates how Christian Reconstructionist has infused  itself into  the political sphere.

Professor William Martin, Ph.D. while, chair of the Dept. of Sociology at Rice University conducted interviews with over 100 leaders of the Religious Right including Christian Reconstructionist. Professor Martin published a book that later became the basis for a PBS documentary
called, “With God on Our Side." Professor Martin envisioned a reconstructed America. What does that mean.[ See Article ]
  • The Federal Government would recede into the background.
  • Churches would assume responsibility for welfare and education.
  • The U.S. Constitution would conform to Biblical Law.

There are many other facets to their agenda. Woman would be demanded to a subservient role. They would oppose any form of common sense gun-control. While George Bush II [Dominionist] was president the ban on assault rifles was allowed to expire [See Source], and the Religious Right dominated Republican Party senate did not even allow a vote to extend the bill. Christian Reconstructionist and Dominionist both passionately oppose any regulation on business. These regulations  protect the environment, workers safety, public health, and advocate much more use of the death penalty,  They believe and support massive tax-cuts for the wealthy.

What is Dominion Theology?

In 2004 author Kevin Phillips wrote a book titled; American Dynasty: Aristocracy, Fortune, and the Politics of Deceit in the House of Bush. This book points out that two of then president George Bush II religious advisers Reverend Jack Hayford and Anthony T Evans were adherents of Dominion Theology. It is important to remember that Christian Reconstructionist and Dominionist are interchangeable. However, our research here at the House of Public Discourse has found Dominionism as a water-down form of Christian Reconstruction. They share the same goals with the latter being less punitive. Dominion Theology is not affiliated with a particular denomination. For the most part, their followers are people from all denominations. Their belief is that Christians have the responsibility and are mandated to take power over the world. The term dominion means “to take control over." The Dominionist wants to take control over all Democratic institutions that govern our country.

“Christians are mandated to gradually occupy all secular institutions until Christ returns."
What spurred my interest and gave this writer concern about Dominion Theology other than it being [in my view] a false teaching and un-biblical was the track record of some of its followers who reached high levels of position in our government.
Tom Delay (R-TX)

Tom Delay, (R-TX) and former House Majority Leader had a Dominionist world-view. He said:

He [God] is using me, all the time, everywhere, to stand up for a biblical world view in everything I do and everywhere I am. He is training me. [Source: Worldview Weekend, Pearland, TX , April, 2002]

Pat Robertson
According to televangelist Pat Robertson, founder of the Christian Coalition said at a banquet in 1984:

" Our aim is to gain dominion over society"

" Rule the world for God"

That is Dominion Theology in a nut-shell. Rule the world for God. A dominionist organization based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ' The National Reform Association,' in their mission statement made the following proclamations:

  1. Jesus is Lord in all aspects of life, including civil government.
  2. The civil ruler is to be a servant of God, he derives his authority from God.

This mission statement is based on Romans in the Greek scriptures[New Testament].

In this Dominionist rendition and interpitation the Dominionist presents this scripture in the following context.

It [government] is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath upon the one who practices evil. [Romans 13: 1,3.4]

Here is where this writer takes issue and poses questions into the Dominionist motives. Christian Right organization have a serious flaw in their theology. " They cherry-pick the Bible," " they tweak and twist scripture to placate their agenda's and motivations." What Romans chapter 13 verses one, two, three, and four are about is. " Submission to Authorities." Let's break this down and put it in the context that was the motivation of its author the apostle Paul.

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. [Romans 13: 1, NIV]

If the government is the minister of God, and God is responsible for the
establishment thereof and the people in the office are there because God put them there why have we seen the Republicans obstruction to Americas first black president reach seditious levels? In fact, according to Matthew Henry famous Bible commentator all good-Christians should:

Matthew Henry

"We are here taught how to conduct ourselves towards magistrates, and those that are in authority over us, called here the higher powers, intimating their authority (they are powers), and their dignity (they are higher powers), including not only the king as supreme, but all inferior magistrates under him: and yet it is expressed, not by the persons that are in that power, but the place of power itself, in which they are. However the persons themselves may be wicked, and of those vile persons whom the citizen of Zion contemneth, yet the just power which they have must be submitted to and obeyed."

When reading the Bible you can pick and choose, which passages to emphasis. This cherry picking and twisting can shape someone's world-view. In fact, the very image of Jesus Christ can be shaped to conform to one's motives. There is an image of a gentle loving Christ and an image of Christ, the avenger. The Christ of Dominion Theology is the avenger. The Reverand Tim LaHaye describes that moment when Christ returns in his best-selling " Left Behind." series. Tim LaHaye Christ does awful things to non-believers. Their eyes are melted-out. Flesh boils. Sounds a lot like the effects of a nuclear blast.

Jerry Falwell

The late Reverend Jerry Falwell depicts a similar event.

What Robertson, LaHaye, and the late Falwell are implying goes back to a central point concerning Dominion Theology. Believe as we do or your doomed. These people rest their entire mindsets on the false assumption America was founded on Christian principles. As we reported here at House of Public Discourse [ See Article] the facts of these assumptions are incorrect and blatantly untrue. In part 2, we will dig deeper into these false assumptions and how they are shaping public policy in the present.

The Counterfeit Promise Of Dominionism Doctrine

Many people in America did not and still do not know that president George Bush II was a dominionist. In fact, ever since his election to office the Republican Party has been inundated with political candidates that prescribe to its doctrine. For example, George Bush II while in the White House surrounded himself with these so-called. " Promise Keepers." This group was nothing more than dominionist.

Who Are The Promise Keepers?

Promise Keepers is a Christian organization for men. While it originated in the United States, independent branches are established in Canada and New Zealand. It is self-described as "a Christ-centered organization dedicated to introducing men to Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, helping them to grow as Christians".[1]Promise Keepers is a non-profit organization, not affiliated with any Christian church or denomination. Their most widely publicized events tend to be mass rallies held at football stadiums and similar venues. They also sell a variety of promotional products to "help men keep their promises," including clothing, books, and music. Dr. Bruce Wilkinson developed the widely used video curriculum, Personal Holiness in Times of Temptation, as a part of "The Biblical Manhood" series for Promise Keepers.[Source: wikipedia.org]

This organization had a profound effect on the presidency of George Bush II. They introduced Bush II to a whole new philosophy of politics. A religious one not an economic one. One of those tenets where for men to take dominion over their wives. After Bush II, came John McCain. ( R-AZ) There have been times in McCain's past that people by and large considered him a sensible and reasonable person. With his appointment of Sarah Palin, a card-carrying dominionist to be his running mate in the 2008 presidential race shattered that perception. In fact, John McCain openly embraced and gathered dominionist around him. For example, Pastor John Hagee and Rob Parsley. What was transforming was the merging of the business right with the religious right. We have seen Republican Party governors like Rick Perry from Texas become closely aligned with Dominionists groups. In the case of Rick Perry he involved himself with one of the most radical Dominionist groups in the country. The New Apostolic Reformation. (NAR)
 Rachel Tabachnick

Respected political researcher Rachel Tabachnick wrote:

"Perry's endorsers are not just a random group of radical evangelists making outrageous statements. These are the 'apostles and prophets' of the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR), the biggest international religious movement you never heard of."

Forrest Wilder, an investigative reporter for the Texas Observer, wrote around this same period:

"The NAR's intellectual godfather, C. Peter Wagner, one of Perry's early endorsers, brags that NAR is the most significant change in how Christianity is practiced since the Protestant Reformation ... With hundreds of millions of followers worldwide, the NAR's stress on Godlike 'prophetic' and 'apostolic' powers, its revisions of end-time prophecies, its methodology of 'spiritual warfare,' and its agenda of theocratic dominion over all aspects of society are threatening to modern democracy."
In this writer's view, it is paramount that we inform ourselves on this twisted theology called Dominionism. Dominionist advocates a doctrine that envisions a takeover of the world by a form of religious zealots as a fore-runner to the second-coming of Christ. This false religious viewpoint endorses a political/religious concept called the. " Seven Mountains Of Culture." These seven mountains are 1-business, 2-government, 3-media, 4-arts and entertainment, 5-education, 6-family, and 7-religion.

The Seven Mountains Of Culture Explained By A Dominionist.

There is an extreme downward slope into religious nonsense here. To ignore this progression into religious myth would be to do so at one's peril. Think about it for a second. For the most part, America is still reeling from the economic crisis of the Bush II administration. The confidence of the American people in our government is at an all time low and similar to that of Germany in the 1930's.[See Article] It was these type conditions that propelled the people of Germany in 1933 to take leave of their senses and vote Hitler into power.[See Article] During the 2012 Republican primary for president, no candidate exemplified what a dominionist president might look like than Rick Santorum. Rick Santorum is an extreme Roman Catholic dominionist. Santorum is also a member of a religious faction known as the Opus Dei.

Opus Dei is controversial, and many claim it to be a cult.

Alexander Cockburn writing for the Independent Investigative Journal Counterpunch, commented:

"Surely Rick Santorum is the most fanatical Christian to run for the Republican nomination in the modern era, maybe any era."
Can you picture in your mind in these modern times or any time an Untied States president whipping himself in the White House?  This connection of Santorum to Opus Dei coupled with the fact this guy was a Republican front-runner at some point in the 2012 presidential race sends shivers down this writer's back. What is an important factoid about Opus Dei is the religious groups philosophy has been embraced by  many of the fascist governments over the last 100 years.

Opus Dei is " A Mafia Shrouded In White."

Opus Dei is very clear in its mission. Their goal is to influence society to direct itself [society] to the Catholic world-view. This world-view is a very radical right-wing one that inserts its members into key positions in government. Dominionism and Opus Dei are religious cousins. These spiritual philosophies work to advance their members at whatever the cost and with the goal of placing as many as they can at the highest levels of government. Many of these modern day radical spiritual doctrines came into existence with the emergence of socialism and communism. Many within these denominations view this as a death-struggle between good and evil, God and Satan.

The Christian Right in America has taken this presumption and made political hay with it. They have steadily tried  to circumvent the separation of " church and state." clauses in the constitution. They claim the Christian West is under attack by secular-humanism and that self-indulgent forces are trying to destroy Christianity and drive God from the public sphere. Rick Santorum rode this donkey in his 2012 presidential bid.

Rick Santorum Satan Has His Sights On America Speech

Satan is attacking the great institutions of America!  Using the vices of pride, vanity, and sensuality to destroy and break-down these so  embedded great American traditions. Does the condition paranoia ring a bell? [Source: See Article]

A Rebuttal.

According to the Dominionist, the opening salvos against Christianity began in the late 1960's with what has become known as the Woodstock Generation.  I was in my early teens during this period and remembered the conservative grown ups talking how these long-haired hippies were ruining our country.

The dominionist believes that America went to " hell in a hand basket," when the. ' love-generation' manifested itself. They [Dominionist] contend that this generation of people has become the Democratic Party. Democrats are the. ' party of Woodstock.'
Their contention is Democrats are all about primal lusts, [sex] and the whole abortion culture is not about life, but sexual freedom. That it's about Homosexuality and now, today, same-sex-marriage. According to Rick Santorum and other Opus Dei and Dominionist members Woodstock is America's new religion.  Where does the president Barack Hussein Obama fit into this spiritual facade?

Millions of so-called Christians on the radical Christian Right agree.

"Many ... Evangelical Christians ... take it as an article of faith that President Obama is merely the public face of a secular conspiracy intent on altering their country beyond recognition." [Source: John Cassidy The New Yorker]
These religious zealots point to the contraceptive mandates in Obamacare as an example and we saw the Hobby Lobby insanity play out this year in the highest court in the land. This writer makes no bones or apologizes in my contention that following the path these Christian zealots, and the political crackpots they influence like Rick Santorum would lead us down a dark path.

Are the Dominionist and Christian Right, Right?

To truly answer this question with a sense of fairness, we must do what any empirical research entails a look at the history concerning the matter. We begin the study with the introduction of probably the first real American historian Charles Thomson.
Charles Thomson

Thomson was the man who made the final decision on the " Great Seal," of the Untied States. During the American Revolution, Thomson kept a detailed account of the events of the day. By doing so, he was privy to all the behind the scenes activities pertaining to some of our countries most celebrated figures. Many factions during his lifetime compelled him to publish this history Thomson refused.

" No...I ought not, for I should contradict all the histories of the great events of the Revolution."[The Hidden Faith of the Founding Fathers]

Thomson went on in his explanation:

" Let the world admire the supposed wisdom and valor of our great men."

Thomson ultimate position was that he would not take part in what he felt would undeceive future generations. As a result, Thomson destroyed the manuscript. This action created a lost of what may have been the truest account of the American Revolution.[See Source] The larger question here is what did Thomson mean by his statement that he would not be responsible for undeceiving future generations? Moreover, we are that generation and I for one want to know what was Thomson hiding. To the point, the founding fathers of our country are some of the most famous people to walk this earth. They set up a new form of government never before practiced on earth. This state system has by in large been the marvel of the modern age. But the real question that is at issue here was America founded as a Christian nation. In an article recently published here at the House of Public Discourse, we pose the question;[ Is America Really A Christian Nation] today.

It is evident today that many factions in this country Dominionist being one that co-mingle patriotism with a form of patriotic Christianity. Patriotic Christianity is the idea that America was founded as a Christian nation. So, with this assumption radical Christian dogma's like Dominionism and their followers feel compelled to push this agenda based on the perception that the founding fathers were Christian men. This belief has led their leaders to advance this agenda in the political arena. It is men like David Barton and others who want to spring-board this idea throughout the electorate and convince everyone that its the Republican Party and the Christian Right that are ones favorable to God and to vote for the Democrats is to vote for the party of Woodstock. The dominionist justifies their involvement in political activism for this theory and their so-called patriotic Christianity.

What is very troubling is that these spiritual organizations are indoctrinating their children with these set of values and conceptions and in affect brainwashing these souls from birth. The known racist Libertarian Ron Paul has jumped into the home-schooling business to bring up good-little Libertarian boys and girls.[See Article]  Also, what is happening is these children are being taught that our founding fathers Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Franklin and others were all good Christian men.

Were The Founding Fathers Good Christian Men?

Just weeks ago while doing some research I came across one Thomas Paine. Much to my surprise, I was fascinated that this moderate and some - what unsuccessful man finally found his passion in life. Thomas Paine went on to write one of the most read literary works of all time, Common Sense. I was so interested in his story that I wrote an article about him.[See Article] He[Paine] and his work Common Sense has been credited as being one of the jump-starts to the American Revolution. In fact, the writings of Thomas Paine in Common Sense created the model for which sculpted the Declaration of Independence.

Thomas Paine wrote in Common Sense.
Thomas Paine

"... Nothing can settle our affairs so expeditiously as an open and determined declaration for independence."

What is so interesting is at the time of his writing this pamphlet Thomas Paine was an immigrant. He was not an American citizen. He was an Englishmen, who Benjamin Franklin sponsored to America.  The reason I identify with Paine cause he was a writer but a " jack of all trades," who until he was able to write he was a lost man. He had failed at just about every endeavor he undertook. However, Ben Franklin, who was a printer, loved Paine's writing style and encouraged him to write Common Sense. Putting things into perspective from a literary standpoint Thomas Paine contribution to the American Revolution was equal to that of George Washington. It was Thomas Paine who coined the phrase " Untied States of America." So, with all this said, why has American history marginalized Thomas Paine?  The short answer, after the revolution Thomas Paine, published his feeling about Christianity and the Bible.

In Paine's literary work, " Age of Reason," he wrote:

" When I see through the greater parts of this book[The Bible] scarcely anything but a history of the grossest vices... and collection of the most paltry and contemptible tales..."

Many historians and people of the time's claimed Thomas Paine was an atheist, but; his defenders say he believed in a God but not the one in the King James translation of the Bible. What is painful and powerful here is that Thomas Paine, a champion of the American Revolution. That many of the founding fathers themselves give equal credit for the success thereof would not be considered a Christian by the likes of modern day politicians like Rick Santorum and Texas Governor Rick Perry.
Thomas Paine went on to write that he did not believe in the creed professed by any church that he knew. According to Thomas Paine, his mind was his church.[See Source] Furthermore, Thomas Paine made it clear that he detested the Bible. In fact, Thomas Paine utterly denounced Christianity. He [Paine] called Christianity a " fable and fraud." This publication the 'Age of Reason,' sold thousands of copies. And, clearly shows that one of America's founding fathers was not a good Christian man.

The Success of The Age of Reason Sparked Further Questions.

With the now well-distributed text of the Age of Reason by a well-read author of his day Thomas Paine, the people of America started to ask questions in the town square for lack of term. Paine, who was close with Washington, Jefferson, Adams, and Franklin and this is what Paine believes and advocates what do these American icons believe? With this conundrum  being the case, the public began to question the viewpoints of these aforementioned men. Contrary to modern- day Christian dogma's like dominionism the founding fathers were carried by a sense of reason as opposed to theology.

John Adams wrote:

" When philosophical reason is clear and certain by intuition or necessary induction ... no subsequent revelation supported by prophecies or miracles can supersede it."

When you break Adams statement down and put it in context, what is Adams saying. When making important decisions your sense of reason [common sense] and intuition [ gut feelings], and induction of scientific study should always supersede the fable and fairy tales of prophecies and reliance on miracles. In a nut- shell, John Adams is voicing the nature of human reasoning should override the word of God that speaks of things in a prophetic nature and is determinate of some freak miracle. This attitude today would land one of our main-stay founding father way left of center with the now radical Christian Right. And, moreover, if any modern-day politician  proclaimed this sentiment he would most definitely not be considered a good Christian man.

It was this factor of human reasoning that led Thomas Jefferson to write in the Declaration of Independence :

" We hold these truths to be self evident..." My research has led me to conclude. That these word were specially engineered to reject any idea that revelation or Biblical prophecy were to have any authority whatsoever in this new government that has been a marvel to the world. Instead, this new government was to be guided only by the philosophic understanding which is self-evident in the minds of men.

For the Christian, this is an important issue cause the Bible warned in Colossians 2:8.

In my exhaustive study of the Bible, I can say without pause I left no stone uncovered. I don't think there was one verse that I did not check commentary on and cross check it with another. I can say with all conviction that three different commentaries from three different translators no matter what era could have three different viewpoints on any given verse. But, one constant theme among Christians is that the. " wisdom of God is greater than man." What is important to point out here is that in the Bible, the inspired writers we speaking of spiritual things not what man's wisdom teaches. The Bible teaches what the Holy Spirit teaches comparing only spiritual things with what is spiritual. See, according to God's word the natural man cannot receive what is spirit cause what is spirit is foolishness to man. As a writer of politics and a past study of the Bible, I am adamant that this reality explains more vividly what Jefferson's self-evident comment was all about. Our founding fathers shaped this country on human reasoning and where entirely  implicit on leaving religion out of the equation.  The Bible tells use that ' man rules man to his on injury,' and that we should in fact, separate ourselves from the world. Jesus at no point in his earthly ministry conveys a sentiment of political involvement by the church. For the most part, our founding fathers were adherent to the enlighten thinkers of the time. Unlike Thomas Paine, who let it all out and had no transparency in his views on Christianity the other founding fathers were more discreet and less transparent than Paine.

However, if you dig in your research and see what the majority of the founding fathers wrote and what their viewpoints were you would find that most of them were in the same mindset as Paine. Thomas Paine and many of the founding fathers were members of the secret societies of the day. It was undoubtably from these clandestine organizations that  much of this enlighten doctrines spun forth. These theories and realities can be overwhelming. But the major point is that our founding fathers were not good Christian men as the Christian Right, and Dominionist would have us to believe. And it is clear this nation was not founded on Christianity. And, that is why we have a church and state doctrine within our Constitution.

The Counterfeit Promise Of Dominionism Doctrine

The main reason for the look back to the intentions of our founding fathers was to point out the central counterfeit promise of dominionism. That the founding fathers were good Christian men whose intent was to form our government based on Christianity. Let us examine this in our present time. There is no doubt that dominionism is growing in the religious right ranks. These self- proclaimed apostles and prophets are drastically changing the structure of many churches. In fact, it is in the Bible that the church is warned of just this very thing.

"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.  Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them" (Matt. 7:15-20).

The major factor of this spiritual movement is the insistence on taking dominion over government and society, This insistence is, in fact, unbiblical.

Pilate replied: “I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests handed you over to me. What did you do?” 36 Jesus answered:+ “My Kingdom is no part of this world.+ If my Kingdom were part of this world, my attendants would have fought that I should not be handed over to the Jews.+ But as it is, my Kingdom is not from this source.” [John 18: 36]

These dominionist religious crackpots advocate they must take dominion over our government so that Jesus will be free to return. There has always been the end- time watchers in our society. How many times have we the public been subjected to these last-days scenario?  As previously stated in this article, the dominionist have created this doctrine of the Seven Mountains. Nowhere and I mean nowhere is this principle mentioned, explained, taught, or anything else, in the Bible.

For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.[Matthew 24: 24]

In America, these drastic religious doctrines have exploded in the last 40 years. My research has suggested the reason. The emergence of the Christina Right and its influence within the Republican Party. Dominionism is the end product of these drastic new theologies all wrapped up in one. It's, " the false doctrine super-pill." What makes dominionism so dangerous is its conception that it must place key members in key societal positions to manifest it control over all of us so Jesus will be free to return. In short, "these people are batty."
In closing, it would do us all an excellent service to take a deep inhale of breath here, and focus on the realities that history teaches us. (1) The governmental guidelines established by our fore-fathers were based on human reasoning, not religious doctrine. (2) The Bible, the inspired word of God, left for us as God's way of communicating his will clearly instructs us that God's way and percepts and his kingdom are not of this world. " It's Written In The Red Writing."

Moreover, the Bible warns us of these false so-called religious organizations that would present themselves as a light, but, in fact, be forces of the dark. And, one must remember that these organizations are people. And, the Bible gave us a clear indication and a stern warning about the overall nature of man throughout the generations. Few would argue that man is worst now than at any other time in his history. The point is debatable, but the actions we see  played out in front of us every day now are undisputable.
